Meet The Owners!
Jamie Miller was raised on a dairy farm near Fredericksburg, Iowa. When he was a young boy he often visited his Grandparent's Minnesota fishing resort where he began to dream of one day having his own fishing resort. Ralph and Clara Saueressig owned Twin Port Resort on Partridge Point near Brevik on Leech Lake. In Fredericksburg, Iowa Jamie worked as a foreman at a cheese manufacturing plant. Jamie has three daughters and a son; Nickole, Kerri Jo, Jodi, and Kody.
Christie Stepan-Mitchell was raised on a dairy farm near Alpha, Iowa. She joined the U.S. Air Force after high school. After her service she returned to NE Iowa and worked as a QA Auditor for a cheese manufacturing plant where she met Jamie. She later went to work as a Registered Dental Assistant. Christie has three sons; Zach, Blake, and Nick.
Jamie and Christie raised their children together and together they built a grain bin sales and construction business. They traveled the country erecting specialty grain storage and drying systems.
Every summer they would travel to Northern Minnesota with the kids to fish, relax, and build their dream of one day running a Mom & Pop fishing resort as his grandparents had.
The last of their children graduated high school and went on to college in 2013.
In May of 2015, when all of their children had left the nest, Jamie & Christie's dream came true with the purchase of Sugar Point Resort. They moved to the resort on April 25th and hit the ground running! Jamie and Christie feel extremely blessed to be able to share their dream with so many wonderful guests who've already become like family.

Food and Accessories
Sugar Point Resort recommends bringing your food and beverages with you. However, the Lodge does have prepared food available, such as Heggie's Pizza, sandwiches, soft drinks, snacks and ice cream treats.
The Lodge also has a small line of groceries available with milk, eggs, bread, butter, ketchup, oil, fish batter and more.
Sugar Point Resort also has large variety of merchandise available for you and your family including sweatshirts, t-shirts, hats and other items.

Gas and Bait
If you're looking to enjoy a long day on the lake, don't worry - the Bait Shop at the Sugar Point Resort Harbor has got you covered. With premium non-oxygenated gas, a variety of bait, and ice readily available, you don't need to leave the resort to have a successful fishing trip. Fishing poles are available to rent and tackle is also available in the lodge.
Professional and Recreational Fishing at Sugar Point Resort
Sugar Point is easily one of the best northern Minnesota Resorts. Some of Minnesota's Best Walleye Fishing is right in front of Sugar Point Resort, a rock skip away from the shore. For Muskie fishing enthusiasts, Submarine Island, Annex Reef, Bear Island and Pelican Island are a few minutes boat ride from our secured harbor not to mention Five Mile, Mokey, North Bar, Ottertail and Two Points. If wetting a line for pan fish and a healthy fish fry is your thing, we can offer that too by recommending Boy Bay or even the plentiful fish in our harbor (among other hot spots). From trophy walleye, Muskie, bass, and northern pike, to crappie, sunnies and jumbo perch, we offer a fishing opportunity for everyone. A little rusty on fishing?, we can recommend a local fishing guide for you. We can also book your company fishing trips and family get-togethers.
